“They Robbed My Husband The Exact Same Way Eight Years Ago”

“This is the most vulnerable place for people to attack because people have plenty money,” she said.

“Whoever they is they ga yuck you up get hip and you know what [sic],” he said.

Residents are still in shock over a double shooting yesterday just before noon that took the life of Police Reservist Lernex Williams.

Police reported Williams was making a deposit at RBC’s branch in Palmdale.

We revisited the scene of the crime where we met Daisy Roberts, who shares the frightening tale of how her husband was robbed at that very same bank deposit box eight years ago.

“He didn’t see anyone coming behind him. He got out of his car…he [placed] the [key] bag…and the next thing he knew there was two guns, one on either side.”

“Two men were next to him…[while he was] facing the depository, he had the bag but it hadn’t dropped and they said don’t drop it, [and] he didn’t drop [it], [but] he froze [and] they took the bag and…pulled off,” Roberts said.

Her husband survived the frightening ordeal, but for Police Reserve Lernex Williams, it was a deadly end.

The news spread quickly over social media, with pictures and videos of the incident going viral.

Another resident, is still outraged over what happened:

“That’s wrong, that’s still inhumane to disrespect authority and to take another police officer life, that’s wrong, and I hope they catch the culprits who do that,” they said.

Despite the shooting yesterday, the plaza was bustling with life today as many residents were making their way in and out of the bank.

Officers from the North Eastern Division, seek to use the tragic situation as a learning opportunity.

“We are doing [a] routine walk about sensitizing business persons as to what they should be doing when they are considering deposits and things they look out for when they are conducting business in their respect places,” Munroe said.
