Three Bahamians, One Jamaican Arraigned for $2.9m Drug Seizure

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Four men have been charged with drug trafficking after the Defence Force seized almost 3,000 pounds of marijuana and five pounds of cocaine. 

Bahamians Karl Spencer, Andrew Adderley, Marco Cartwright and Jamaican Jessie Solomon pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.

The men were arrested by the crew of HMBS Kamalamee in the Ragged Island chain on December 29.

The officers allegedly found 2,908 pounds of marijuana, valued at $2.98 million and five pounds of cocaine, worth $15,000.

Senior Magistrate Shaka Serville set bail at $50,000 each for the Bahamians. Solomon was granted $250,000 cash bail.

All of the accused have to wear ankle monitors, surrender their travel documents and sign in with police. Their trial is set for May 28.
