UNITED STATES – TikTok is fighting to stay online in the U.S., asking for an emergency injunction to block a ban set for January 19, 2025. After losing a recent appeal, TikTok is taking the case to the Supreme Court, arguing the ban would cause irreparable harm to the platform and its 170 million American users.

The Department of Justice opposes the injunction, citing bipartisan support for the law and national security risks. The government passed a law requiring TikTok’s sale or ban, citing national security concerns tied to its parent company, ByteDance, and alleged links to China. Both companies continue to deny those claims.
