UNITED STATES – TikTok and parent company ByteDance filed a lawsuit in a U.S. Federal court on Tuesday, aiming to block a law signed by President Biden.

The law demands the divestment of the popular short video app used by 170 million Americans or threatens a ban.

The companies argue that the law violates the U.S. Constitution, particularly first amendment free speech protections.

Signed on april 24, the law gives ByteDance until January 19 to sell TikTok to avoid a ban.
