NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history – In 1948, Larry Ferguson was born in Nassau.

Ferguson is as singer and musician who is most known as the keyboardist for the British soul-funk group Hot Chocolate.

Then in 1966 – the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center on Andros Island was officially dedicated.

AUTEC is a United States Navy Base that performs measurements covering the entire spectrum of undersea simulated warfare.

The historical society notes the lab was built after an agreement between the U.S., United Kingdom and The Bahamas.

And finally in 2011 – Arthur Foulkes was sworn in as Governor-General of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

Sir Arthur served in the office until July 7th 2014.
