Tourism Numbers Near 1M in January

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – January saw nearly 1 million tourist arrivals, according to Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Responsible Chester Cooper. He says that equates to a 33 percent increase over 2019.

He made the revelation as he was contributing to the mid-year budget debate, noting visitor arrivals are up in Nassau, Grand Bahama, Exuma, Abaco and Andros.

Grand Bahama also saw a 400 percent hike in sea arrivals compared to the year before.

That rapid growth in tourist arrivals also translates to an increase in departure tax arrivals for the first six months of the fiscal year.

The aviation minister also boasting of new routes to come this year, to provide more avenues for visitors to reach our shores.

Starting with this month with JetBlue’s service from LaGuardia to Nassau.

Cooper also revealing an over $260 million investment for Family Island airports.
