ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS – It was standing room only inside Workers House in Governor’s Harbour Thursday morning, as residents packed in to hear what the government had to say about the future of Eleuthera.

The town hall meeting  was spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism, alongside government agencies and private sector partners.

Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper laid out the big picture – from an airlift boost and new tourism numbers, to long-awaited repairs at the Glass Window Bridge, upgrades at the island’s major healthcare facility and ongoing airport works.

He also revealed Eleuthera is now close to full employment.

Aviation Director Kenneth Romer followed with details on upgrades at the North Eleuthera, Rock Sound and Governor’s Harbour airports.

And Jeremy Ebie, Director of Airport Development partners, outlined the scope of works in partnership with phoenix infrastructure.

But, while the projects sound promising, industry partners raised tough questions, from power outages and housing shortages.
