KENTUCKY, USA – Larry Demeritte is the Bahamian horse trainer of West Saratoga. 

On Saturday at the 150th Kentucky Derby, he became the first Bahamian trainer and only the second black trainer to saddle up a horse in the Kentucky Derby since the 1950s.

West Saratoga placed 12th in the race.

For now, the horse trainer tells us their focus is on letting West Saratoga enjoy his vacation.

Demeritte has this message for his supporters at home.
