Trump Signs Executive Order for A.I. Project to Boost Scientific Discoveries

UNITED STATES – President Donald Trump is ordering the federal government to partner with tech companies and universities to turn government data into new scientific discoveries, unveiling the “Genesis Mission” in a new executive order.

The order directs the Department of Energy and national labs to build a digital platform that concentrates the nation’s scientific data in one place, and invites private sector and university partners to use AI to tackle engineering, energy and national security challenges.

The White House is calling it the most ambitious use of federal scientific resources since the Apollo missions, as Trump bets big on AI to drive the economy.

It comes as global data centers, fueled by AI, now account for about 1.5% of the world’s electricity use, a number expected to double by 2030.
