Trump Threatens To Sink Vessels Laying Mines In The Strait Of Hormuz

UNITED STATES – U.S. President Donald Trump warning he’s ordered the U.S. Navy to immediately attack any vessel attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

It’s the latest in a new escalation of tensions with Iran in one of the world’s main energy trade routes.

The warning came amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, after Iran seized two ships in the strait and attacked other commercial vessels, while the United States announced the seizure of another oil tanker linked to the transport of Iranian crude.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key passage for the global oil supply, approximately one-fifth of the world’s traded crude oil passes through it under normal circumstances.
