GUYANA – Two children, one of them celebrating her birthday, were among four people killed in separate house fires in Guyana.

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) reporting the fire broke out at a two story home in Silvertown, Liden at around 11:45 Monday night.

When officers arrived, they say they found the house engulfed in flames and smoke.

Authorities say the12-year-old birthday girl identified as Kayla and her aunt Cheryl Moore both died in the fire, which they say was reportedly set by a male relative who was handed over to police.

Then around 5:20 Tuesday morning, GFS officers responded to a blaze at good hope, Essequibo.

That fire claiming the lives of Sasha la Cruz and her seven-year-old son, Isha Wilson.

Investigations are ongoing.
