U.S. Continues Military Buildup Operations In Puerto Rico

PUERTO RICO, UNITED STATES – U.S military activity in the Caribbean continued Monday with Marine Corps Osprey aircraft delivering supplies to Mercedita International Airport in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Reuters cameras captured crews unloading cargo, moving luggage into bunkhouses, and inspecting the airfield as Ospreys landed, taxied, and took off.

The operations come as Washington turns up the pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Sources tell Reuters his options for any U.S. guaranteed safe passage have narrowed after a call last month with President Donald Trump, who rejected most of his demands.

Trump has since declared Venezuela’s airspace closed in its entirety, while military assets in Puerto Rico now serve as a forward hub for operations tied to the crisis.
