U.S. Pres. Biden Lauds Debt Ceiling Deal

USA – U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy helped secure a debt limit deal with president Joe Biden but now he has to secure its passage in the house.

CNN says a powerful committee convened Tuesday to take up the bill to suspend the debt limit through January 1, 2025, this as pressure is growing on a key republican swing vote as leadership works to advance the deal to a final floor vote on Wednesday.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Friday said the government would default if congress did not increase the nation’s $31.4 trillion debt ceiling by June 5.
