DOHA – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reported that Hamas has suggested numerous changes to a US-backed Gaza ceasefire and hostage release plan.

Speaking in Doha on Tuesday, Blinken mentioned that while some changes are feasible, others are not.

The US, along with Qatar and Egypt, is working to finalize the deal. Although Hamas expressed a willingness to cooperate, it emphasized the necessity of a permanent ceasefire agreement from Israel.

Israel has yet to comment officially, but an anonymous Israeli source indicated that Hamas’s response was essentially a rejection.

On Monday the UN Security Council recently passed a resolution in support of the ceasefire proposal.
