USA – The U.S. is putting new restrictions into place at its southern border to try to stop migrants from crossing illegally.

The changes come with the end of coronavirus restrictions on asylum that have allowed the U.S. to quickly turn back migrants at the border for the past three years.

Those restrictions are known as title 42 lifted at at 11:59 Thursday night.

This week alone, thousands of migrants crossed into the United States before new regulation takes effect.

The U.S. rolled out a regulation on Wednesday that presumes most migrants are ineligible for asylum if they passed through other nations without seeking protection elsewhere first or if they failed to use legal pathways for U.S. entry.
