NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The University of The Bahamas will have a new president at the helm beginning in Fall 2022.

Following a months-long selection process, the newly chosen university chief comes with 30 years of experience, hailing from the University of California and California State University.

UB’s Board of Trustees Chairman Allyson Maynard-Gibson made the announcement today, explaining why Dr Erik Rolland was chosen.

She said the selection of the new president comes at a seminal moment in the history of the institution as well as the country.

There were 79 applicants for the post, which was narrowed down to a shortlist of semifinalists. Three emerged as frontrunners including Dr Rolland, Sir Anthony Seldon, and Dr Ian Strachan.
