EASTERN BLACK SEA – Russia and Ukraine have reached an agreement to ensure safe navigation and prevent the military use of commercial vessels in the Black Sea.

The deal, reached during technical-level talks in Ri-Add, also includes a ban on strikes against energy facilities in both countries.

The United States has pledged to help restore Russia’s access to global agricultural and fertilizer markets, reduce maritime insurance costs, and facilitate trade payments.

The Ukrainian Defense Minister stressed that any Russian military vessel movement beyond the Eastern Black Sea would be considered a threat to Ukraine’s security.
