UNITED STATES – The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives approved a resolution on Wednesday to block President Donald Trump from continuing the three-month-old war against Iran.

The House voted 215 to 208, with four Republicans joining Democrats in support of the War Powers Resolution, which directs Trump to withdraw U.S. troops from Iran unless Congress declares war or authorizes the use of military force.

For now, the vote is largely symbolic, as the legislation must pass both the House and Senate to take effect.

There is also ongoing debate over whether War Powers resolutions would be constitutional even if approved by Congress.
