NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The ongoing drama and split of the Valley Boys Junkanoo group stem from longstanding internal issues but really amped up this summer when two factions of the Valley Boys rushed separately on Bay Street for the Labor Day Junkanoo Rushout. The world-famous Valley Boys were led by Brian Adderley, and the Way Forward Valley Boys were led by Trevor Davis.

The divide only deepened over the summer, and by the time the official seed funding announcements were made in September, the Youth Sports and Culture Minister announced there would be no seed funding until after a meeting with the Valley Boys factions, a meeting that brought no resolution.

Even with the unsuccessful meeting, both factions received $30,000 of seed funding for the parades.

Later in September, the JCNP announced Adderley’s Valley Boys would participate in the A-Division, while Davis’ Valley Boys would be participating in the F-Division.

Just this weekend, the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture announced both Valley Boys groups would participate in the Category A division of the upcoming parades, the latest twist in a drama that has captured headlines throughout 2024. Meanwhile, the two Valley Boys factions are currently embroiled in a legal dispute.
