Airport wait

PANAMA – A U.S. policy shift has stranded hundreds of Venezuelan migrants in Panama’s capital looking for a way back home.

Earlier this month the Biden administration announced it would accept up to 2,400 Venezuelans at the airport returning those who attempted to cross the southwest border to Mexico.

That change in policy shut the door on Venezuelan asylum seekers.

About 900 of them have returned on charter flights from Panama since the policy change.
