UTAH, UNITED STATES – The combo guard out of Bimini showed why he was one of the most hyped prospects in his draft class, going off to the tune of 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in his professional debut in the NBA Summer League in Utah.

He also flexed his cat-quick reflexes on defense blocking two shots and swiping a steal as his Philadelphia 76ers squad fell to the host Utah Jazz 93-89.

Edgecome’s scoring came on 13 of 27 shots but he did struggle from range, making one of his seven three-pointers.

However, it didn’t matter because he put pressure on the rim, scoring 12 points in the paint. He also showed a decent in-between game, going 6 of 9 from the midrange.

Utah Jazz Forward Ace Bailey was originally projected to be taken by the 76ers ahead of Edgecombe, but fell to the jazz after declining interviews and workouts.

He played in the game as well scoring 8 points on 3 of 13 from the field. Kyle Filiposki led the Jazz with 22 points.

MLB

The battle for New York continued last night with Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm going 1-3 with his 15th home run of the year. However, it wasn’t enough as his Yankees fell to Coach Antoan Richardson’s Mets, 12-6 in Queens last night, their 7th straight loss.

Yankees pitching had another meltdown with starter Carlos Rodon surrendering 6 earned runs.

His relievers offered no relief whatsoever, giving up 5 more in only three innings of work.

The Mets feasted at the plate with Brandon Nimmo hitting a home run and Pete Alonso knocking two out as well.

Mets reliever Ryne Stankek was credited for the win.
