Voters Collect Biometric Card

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One new feature at tomorrow’s vote will be the appearance of the biometric voter cards, where last minute pick ups happened at pickup stations in New Providence and Grand Bahama locations throughout the day.

“I also wish to advise the public that we will start to issue the biometric cards in all of the constituencies in New Providence and Grand Bahama.”

Qualified candidates are now able to collect their biometric voter’s cards, which is intended to modernize the electoral process – something many voters are relieved to finally have them in hand.

On Monday, with just hours to election, we visited two of the pickup stations.

The first one was Town Center Mall, which serves the constituents in Centerville, Garden Hills, St. Barnabas, and Englerston.

Potential voters called it an effortless process.

“It wasn’t bad at all. Very smooth.”

“It wasn’t bad it was a quick process.”

Next stop was Cable Beach, where residents from Killarney, St.James and Golden Isles were served.

Notwithstanding Killarney’s status as one of the largest constituencies, the process there was smooth.

Resident Glenn Bannister tells us when he arrived, he told us that he anticipated a long line.

“I expected more people to be on line, and I was prepared to wait for you know 15, 20 minutes. But it looks like I’m going to get into the room in 5 minutes, so that’s great.”
