JAMAICA – Jamaican Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has been freed after Jamaican judges ruled he will not face a retrial for murder. Kartel’s 2014 conviction was overturned by the UK privy council in march due to jury issues.

The Jamaican appeal court decided against a new trial, citing time elapsed and Kartel’s health. Now acquitted, Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, returns to a huge fanbase as a major figure in dancehall music.
