NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Privy Council is set to make a ruling on a controversial citizenship case.

The question?

Whether the Constitution of The Bahamas confers citizenship at birth on a person born in The Bahamas who is the child of an unmarried foreign woman and a Bahamian man.

The Attorney General appealed the Court of Appeal’s decision, which affirmed now Chief Justice Ian Winder’s decision that every person born in The Bahamas shall become a citizen.

The prime minister also giving an update on the Supreme Court injunction blocking government from demolishing shantytowns throughout the country.

The government has gotten a lot of flack, with the Official Opposition saying the Davis administration dragging their feet on the issue.
