Weekend NBA Recap: Klay Scores 29, Ayton Dominates Suns, Buddy Loses 2 Straight

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This past weekend was a very eventful one for Bahamians in the NBA. Klay Thompson came up big in a win against the Toronto Raptors. Deandre Ayton dominated inside against the Spurs and Buddy Hield loses back-to-back games.

It Was A Busy Weekend For Bahamian NBA players

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This past weekend was a very eventful one for Bahamians in the NBA. Klay Thompson came up big in a win against the Toronto Raptors. Deandre Ayton dominated inside against the Spurs and Buddy Hield loses back-to-back games. 

Klay Drops 29 On The Raptors

Shooting guard Klay Thompson got some sweet revenge against the Toronto Raptors, the team he was playing in the NBA finals when his injury woes began in 2019. He scored 29 points on 11-24 shooting to go with 8 rebounds as his Golden State Warriors beat the Raptors 129-117 on Friday night. He also made 6 of 14 three point attempts. 

The Dubs were back-and-forth with the Raptors until the beginning of the third quarter when they eventually pulled away. Klay’s brother in splash, Steph Curry led the Dubs with 35 points. He also had 7 rebounds and 22 assists. 

Dominayton Against The Spurs

Phoenix Suns Center completely dominated the paint against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 23 points to go with 7 rebounds and 3 assists in a 128-118 overtime victory on Saturday night.

The Suns led for most of the game however they failed to put the Spurs away, allowing them to stage a furious 4th quarter run to end regulation tied 110. The Suns would pull away in OT however.

The Suns’ Chris Paul had 31 points and 11 assists. Mikal Bridges added 25 along with his lockdown defense. 

Buddy Hield and the Pacers Had A Rough Weekend

Buddy Hield and his Indiana Pacers lost back-to-back games this weekend, falling to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday and the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.

The Pacers lost 141-131 to the Bucks. The game was never as close as the final score indicated, as the Bucks led by as many as 23 in the third quarter. Buddy had 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting to go, with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. 

The Pacers would go on to lose again to Memphis on Sunday, 112-100. 

Hield would finish the game with just 3 points in 34 minutes of play. 

Thompson and Ayton are back in action tonight.
