LONDON, ENGLAND – Crowds are filing in, roads closing and flags line London’s streets.

Amidst the preparations for the celebrations, police are in place for the coronation ceremony of King Charles III.

Even now, a few eager spectators have pitched tents along the mall, ensuring they have a perfect view.

Global news crews are already marking their spots near Buckingham Palace to ensure the world witnesses the historic ceremony.

Our News team also observed officers at the National Guards museum, in what could easily be preparations for the ceremony.

The ceremony begins 11am,  with the king’s procession to Westminster Abbey then moving along to Buckingham Palace.

For context – a coronation is a symbolic and religious ceremony where a sovereign is crowned. It formalizes a monarch’s role as the head of the Church of England and marks the transfer of title and power.

However, a coronation is no longer necessary, instead a traditional ceremonial event.

The mall which leads to Buckingham Palace, is lined with the flags of Commonwealth countries among them, the Bahamian flag.

Our News team speaking with British police on the expected changes like this emblem on the palace gates which reads, “ER II”, representing Elizabeth Regina II but eventually, this will be changed to “CR III” for Charles Rex III.

Bank notes are also on the list of changes this year.
