Bahamas Power and Light telling consumers here that a damaged breaker is the cause of the issue, but that teams were out working to restore power.

Island administrator Evak Arthur conducted an assessment of the island.

Arthur says Biminites are being proactive and have already started the clean-up process themselves.

We came across this Good Samaritan who started pumping water out of the street early this morning. He says it’s usually a three-hour process.

We then saw this man who was trying to get to work but couldn’t get by.

As we traversed the island some roads were impassible for small vehicles along the roads were downed election signs and trees.

But it wasn’t enough to stop this man who road his bike through the flood waters.

Residents say instances like this emphasize the need for proper drainage around the island.
