WASHINGTON D.C. – Forecasters say a dangerous storm system is bearing down on the I-95 corridor from D.C. to New York, with flash flooding expected Thursday.

Some areas could see up to 8 inches of rain and that includes the evening commute.

New York City has issued a travel advisory and Mayor Eric Adams is urging residents to stay home if they can.

In the southwest, more than 50 million Americans are under heat alerts, with temperatures in some places feeling as hot as 120.
