NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Ministry of Works and Utilities officials are now working even closer with the Royal Bahamas Police Force Traffic Division.
This as 69 of the 80 traffic lights across the island have been updated with advanced technology.
Senior traffic and transport engineer in the Ministry of Works and Utilities, Joy John explains those that who run red lights and create damage to public infrastructure, create major financial issues across the board.
John says thanks to the new technology, they are able to receive real-time alerts which could help cut down response times of first responders and other necessary teams.
He adds this now allows the ministry to present footage to the police and those offenders will be held accountable.
John says the ministry will now be ramping up their partnership with the traffic division.
