12U Team Headed To Caribbean Cup

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Baseball Association is continuing its youth development by fielding another team to compete against the top teams in the region.

The team is headed to the Caribbean Cup, July 21-28 in the Dominican Republic.

Geron Sands will serve as the team’s head coach.

The BBA returned to international play at the youth level earlier this year when the 15u team participated in the world cup qualifier.

The BBA will host the 15U Caribbean cup at the Andre Rodgers Stadium August 7-11 and the open Caribbean Cup October 19-26.

Meanwhile, New York Mets first base coach Antoan Richrdson and LDK Performance have partnered with the Batter’s Box for a unique event.

Hosted at the Andre Rodgers National Stadium, the camp features dozens of aspiring players as young as 5 and up to 18 years old.

LDK’s Director of Baseball and Softball Development Shawnte Curtis, said one of the camp’s main focus will be on targeting athleticism.

Lydon Wallace of the Batter’s Box said the collaboration is aimed at the raising the standard of development in the country.

The camp runs Monday through Friday, 9am to noon.
