NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 15-year-old is behind bars awaiting sentencing in relation to the seizure of a loaded assault rifle.

Police arrested the teen on January 11 after receiving reports that he was firing an AK-47 on Wilton Street.

Police seized the rifle along with 22 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

The teen reportedly armed himself after he got into a fight with another teenager over a girl.

He pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition when he appeared before the Juvenile Court today.

He has been remanded to the Simpson Penn School for Boys until April 12.
