NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 19-year-old man is behind bars, accused of a double shooting that left one man dead on Emancipation day.

Prosecutors say Devontae Ferguson is responsible for the murder of Dexter Kerr Jr. and the attempted murder of Delano Braynen.

Police say the two men were at a bar on West Bay Street on August 3rd when a gunman entered and opened fire.

Ferguson appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans, but was not required to enter a plea to the charges.

He was denied bail and is due back in court January 28th, 2027 to receive his voluntary bill of indictment papers.
