NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Shortly after 2pm on Saturday, police were alerted to a shooting near Robinson Road and Rabertha Drive.

Upon arrival, they found seven gunshot victims, all under 25 years old. Two, aged 16 and 20, were found dead in the streets, while five others, ranging from 16 to 22 years old, were taken to the hospital.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anton Rahming confirmed these details, explaining that several men were gathered near a vehicle when two individuals emerged from a Nissan and opened fire.

Some victims fled, leaving one in the vehicle, who later died from his injuries. Another victim ran up the street but collapsed and also succumbed to his injuries.

Family members at the scene were overcome with grief, and police are classifying the incident as a mass shooting.

Rahming confirmed that at least one victim was wearing a police ankle monitor. The motive remains unclear.

Rahming stated, “We do not know who the targets were at this time, but we are in the early stages of the investigation and will spare no effort.”

A heavy police presence suggests authorities suspect retaliation may be involved. Rahming added that law enforcement, including other officers, will continue to patrol the area.
