NASSAU , BAHAMAS – The Coalition of Independents unveiled part two of its 100-Day Plan, which laid out proposals targeting crime, culture and agriculture.

This occurred as the party continues to make its case to voters ahead of the general election.

The Coalition of Independents is pushing for sweeping changes that it says it will implement if they’re elected to lead the country in next month’s general election.

The party rolled out part two of its 100-day plan with national security topping the agenda.

Party leader Lincoln Bain, told supporters at the party’s headquarters that he’d serve as Minister of National Security.

Bain proposed a unified approach to law enforcement, bringing immigration, customs, police, and the Defense Force under one coordinated system.

Among the most controversial proposals was the promise to reintroduce capital punishment, despite no one being executed since January 6th, 2000.

While the law remains on the books, legal challenges, particularly from the London-based Privy Council have made executions difficult to implement, restricting them to “the worst of the worst” cases.

“Did you hear me say that we are going to bring back capital punishment? If you kill, you will be killed.”

The COI’s 100-day plan also includes a dedicated murder court, the appointment of additional magistrates, and the implementation of a national “smart system” designed to track license plates and individuals across government agencies, including their immigration status, insurance, and outstanding warrants.

The COI also proposed a sex offender registry, an increase in the age of consent from 16 to 18, and salary increases aimed at improving morale across the uniformed branches.

Beyond crime, the party said that its plan is rooted in national survival.

“This is not about politics for me. This is about survival. Survival of a nation. This is it.”

When it comes to culture, Mt. Moriah candidate Linda Stubbs, outlined a vision to transform the creative economy, including regular cultural shows at the Nassau Cruise Port and a “Bay Street 365” initiative.

In agriculture and fisheries, the plan focuses on food security, with proposed fishing industrial centers across West End, Eight Mile Rock, Andros, and Moore’s Island.

That will come along with an anti-poaching task force.

The party also promised to prioritize local production through “local first” supply agreements with hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets.

Faith Percentie – COI Candidate, Englerston

“We are going to implement laws and legislation that allow our farmers to be the frontline providers to our supermarkets, our hotels, our restaurants, etc.”

Also, in a major boost for farmers, a non-repayable grant program to support agricultural development.

Robert “Bobby” Brown – COI Candidate, Fox Hill

“We got to be able to feed ourselves. So what we’re gonna do in that 100-day plan, we are going to offer our farmers a $500,000 non-repayable fund. Say it again, a $500,000 non-repayable fund. They’re going to be able to use that money for irrigation they can use it for seeds.”
