22 Foreign Nationals Apprehended

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Twenty-two foreign nationals are in the custody of The Bahamas Department of Immigration. 

Police Press Liaison Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings told the media that shortly after 4pm Saturday, officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marine Unit intercepted a vessel.

Chief Immigration Officer Chad Adams says his department along with its counterparts, have seen an increase in smuggling attempts since COVID-19 adding that quite a few minors have also been involved in these attempts.

Now although the vessel had a United States flag hoisted, Skippings could not confirm the nationality of the captain however, she had this message for anyone involved in smuggling attempts.

Police also confirmed that a large amount of cash was also confiscated.

Investigations are ongoing.
