NASSAU, BAHAMAS – More than 500 hirings and promotions are under review by the Davis cabinet, according to Pia Glover-Rolle, Minister of State for The Public Service, who said officials want to ensure those hires and promotions are based on merit.

Jasmin Brown reports.

The state minister for Public Service says officials are working hard to ensure that review is completed in a reasonable amount of time.

On September 13th, just days before the 2021 general election, then Public Service Minister Brensil Rolle revealed the government had officially made 1,200 workers from its 52-week unemployment program permanent and pensionable.

During a Free National Movement rally in Abaco, he said 85 people from the island were approved, with letters of employment readied.

Glover-Rolle says so far, the process is going smoothly, and assessments are being made in consultation with other ministries.
