NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 70-year-old man is facing charges after his dog allegedly bit an 11-year-old boy who was playing at a park in Grand Bahama.

Stephen Mackey faces charges of negligently causing harm and permitting a dog to be at large in connection with the September 5 incident.

Prosecutors say the child was at the Susan J Wallace Community Park, when Mackey’s unrestrained dog bit the child, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Mackey denied the allegations at his arraignment before magistrate Uel Johnson on Wednesday.

His bail was set at $2,000 and the trial is set for February 3.
