76ERs Prepare For Late Season Playoff Push

PHILADEPHIA, U.S.A – Buddy Hield and the Philadelphia 76ers are in the midst of a playoff push and came from behind for a pivotal road win Thursday night.

The 76ers defeated the Miami Heat 109-105 at the Keyasa Center in Miami, Florida. Hield has averaged just over 12 points per game and shot 38 percent from 3 in 27 games since he was traded to Philadelphia.

With the return of reigning MVP Joel Embiid to the lineup, the 76ers have won their last two and improved to 42-35, 8th in the eastern conference.

Hield spoke on the importance of playing close to home, and the anticipation of his first opportunity at the playoffs.

CARIFTA Swimming

The track team got their Grand Bahama welcome now it was time for the championship CARIFTA Aquatics squad to have their turn in the spotlight.

The Bahamas totaled 1,096.50 points, over 300 points ahead of second place finisher Cayman Islands. They also collected a total of 101 medals, including 34 gold, 39 silver and 28 bronze.

Team Manager Karon Pinder-Johnson said preparation and a sense of national pride led to an all time great performance

FIBA Basketball

Senior men’s national basketball team Director of Operations,  LJ Rose, said The Bahamas’ performance at the recent Americup qualifiers showed positive signs for the program moving forward into an important summer.

The Bahamas split the last home and away series with Puerto Rico and will continue in November against Cuba.

Some of those new faces may be integral in Olympic qualification.

The Bahamas will compete in the final Olympic qualifier July 2-7 in Valencia, Spain against Finland, Poland, Spain, Angola and Lebanon.
