NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A murder suspect who escaped from the Elizabeth estates police station has been sentenced to eight months in prison.

On April 20, officers allowed 37-year-old Jocelyn Similien to use the bathroom unaccompanied to change his clothes, before he was taken to court to be charged for the March 19 murder of Camron Munnings.

Similien used the opportunity to break a window pane and flee through the bathroom window.

Officers realized that Similien had escaped when they saw him running away on the station’s security cameras.

Similien was captured a short time later on Sumner Street, off Soldier Road.

Similien pleaded guilty to escape and causing damage at his arraignment before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.
