GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahamian students in the second cohort of the GBPA’s Seed Coding Workshop will be tasked to construct and code a car’s backup sensor using lingo coding kits.

And, they are ready for the challenge. Students from Sister Mary Patricia Russell Junior High School spilled their excitement, and their nerves, for the day ahead.

One student shared the creative project he hopes to achieve using the coding skills he’ll be learning.

And, the learning experience doesn’t stop at the end of the day, Lingo’s Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Jarvis Sulcer explains that the kit includes over 18 components and learning materials for future projects so kids can continue self-paced learning at home.

You’d never guess it, but Sulcer wasn’t always a star student. In fact, he went from having a 1.8 GPA to now having a master of science degree and Ph.D. in nuclear science and engineering from Cornell University.

Today, he’s sharing that journey with students, hoping to prove the point that even if you aren’t starting as the strongest student, you too can go great lengths in learning.
