19-Year Old Bahamian Swimmer Makes History

ARKANSAS, UNITED STATES – Nineteen-year-old Lamar Taylor made history over the past few days becoming the first Bahamian to win three races at the NCAA Division II Swimming Championships in Indianapolis.

Taylor, who swims for Henderson State University, won gold in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke races during the March 7-11 meet.

Lamar, who hails from Freeport, Grand Bahama, spoke to our Sasha Lightbourne, via Zoom, shortly after returning to his school’s Arkansas campus on Sunday about making Bahamian history.
