Darville: Bahamas at Tail End of Fourth Wave

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Although The Bahamas is considered to be at the tail end of the fourth wave of COVID-19, Minister of Health Dr Michael Darville says officials must address challenges within healthcare facilities before easing COVID restrictions.

Dr Darville reminded reporters that while the country is at the tail end of the fourth wave and numbers have decreased, the relaxation of restrictions won’t happen quickly.

Though many states in the United States are dropping restrictions including mask mandates, Dr darville explained one hat doesn’t fit all.

Following an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases over the holidays, daily numbers have decreased to double digits – and in some cases single digits – in recent days.

However, the health minister says he is still very concerned over the pace of the vaccine rollout among adolescents age 12-17.
