NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are trying to determine what caused a fire that destroyed three homes in a Haitian community in Kool Acres, last night. A single mother, who lost her home and everything in it, says she was only able to save their documents.

Berthony McDermott has the details.

A blaze in this Haitian community off Kool Acres Subdivision has left several families, including Tiffany Rubin, her two-year-old daughter, and sister homeless.

According to Police Press Liaison Officer ASP Audley Peters, fire services arrived on the scene shortly before 8pm Sunday.

Police were unable to say what caused the fire but confirmed no one was injured.

Rubin said she was on her way home with her daughter when she saw the flames.

Firefighters spent the night trying to get the fire under control. However, three homes were destroyed and several others were damaged.

When Our News returned to the scene Monday morning, the structure was still ablaze.
