NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The internationally recognized film Kidnapping Inc. premiered at Fusion Superplex to critical acclaim, drawing attention for both its powerful storytelling and sharp cinematography.

Produced by Bruno Mourral and executive produced by Bahamian filmmaker Kareem Mortimer, the Creole-language film follows the gripping tale of two of Haiti’s most notorious kidnappers who unwittingly find themselves entangled in a larger political conspiracy.

Shot with crisp videography and dynamic camera angles, the film delivers both suspense and dark humor, deliberately crafted to raise awareness about the ongoing social and political turmoil in Haiti and the wider Caribbean region.

With over 1,000 kidnappings recorded annually in Haiti, the story hits close to home for co-writer Gilbert Mirambeau Jr., who shared personal experiences of trauma and loss that inspired the film’s creation.

Gilbert Mirambeau Jr. – Co-Writer
“Going back to the 2000s, we had a lot of kidnappings left and right in the country. Kidnapping became like a job for people, and there was a lot of money being made behind it. I met my director back in 2013, he lost his father during this era. My uncle was kidnapped, and some of my friends. We went through a lot of traumatic experiences, people being tortured… harsh stuff. So as filmmakers, we wanted to use our art to push this to the screen and ask: Why are we living through this? Why are Haitians going through this?”

Although Executive Producer Kareem Mortimer was unable to attend the premiere, he shared a heartfelt message ahead of the film’s Bahamas release.

Kareem Mortimer – Executive Producer, Kidnapping Inc.
“It is important for people to show up, because showing up sends a message that our stories matter. Every ticket sold helps shift the needle toward more funding, more visibility, and more respect for our voices. If I could describe Kidnapping Inc. in three words, I would say: wild, credible, smart, and wonderfully Caribbean.”

The film has already captured international attention and is poised to make a lasting impact, both artistically and socially.
