NASSAU , BAHAMAS – For the past five years, the Bahamas Culinary and Arts Festival has delivered an action-packed weekend experience to thousands of residents and visitors, filled with diverse programming and engaging activities.

Given the sheer volume of events throughout the festival, it’s impossible to experience everything at once, leaving many attendees wondering which events absolutely cannot be missed.

Cuisine, creativity and connecting people have served as the premise for the Bahamas Culinary and Arts Festival, hosted by Baha Mar Resort.

The festival’s website outlines an extensive array of events, ranging from art classes and exhibits to cooking demonstrations and culinary celebrations featuring international and regional award-winning chefs.

Baha Mar’s Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Nadia Bowe, provided details on some must-see events.

“We have Tristan Epps. He actually hails from Trinidad. Nina Compton actually has a background in St. Lucia, and then we have Lisa and Crispins. They’re actually plant-powered chefs. You know, that’s the new thing right now, and they’re actually from Jamaica.”

The lineup of chefs is designed to take guests on a global gourmet journey, where every dish tells a story from a different corner of the world.

From Sunday in Sicily with Scott Conant to a sunset barbecue with local culinary artists Chef Simeon Hall Jr. and Mr. Mixx, there’s also A Night in New Orleans with Chef Nina Compton.

“So tomorrow, we have N’awlins Nightcap right here in The Jazz Club. It’s going to be from 9 p.m. to midnight. We have a few tickets left. We also have a performance by Common.”

And Common will not be the only platinum-selling artist performing at the festival.

“It’s too late to apologize, it’s too late. I love the snaps. You guys are, like, helping me with the snaps.”

On Friday night, Grammy-nominated pop-rock band OneRepublic will headline what is arguably the weekend’s marquee event, A Taste of Baha Mar.

The all-inclusive party will feature live-action chef stations and inventive cocktails from some of Baha Mar’s best restaurants.

But if you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, Bowe suggests another fan favourite: the Daily Expo, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

“You can check that out from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. That is where we’re going to focus on all of our local vendors. Artisans and food experts are going to be there as well. We have celebrity chef demos, wine seminars. We also have some art talks and classes that are going to be taking place in the Fuze Pavilion at the same time. That’s also another great one to look out for.”
