A Nephew’s Plea: “We’re Not Running From What the Dog Did, but My Aunt’s Health is Important”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – 73-year-old Pearl Morley and her 51-year-old son Clifton Morley, are facing charges in relation to a dog attack that left a 3-year-old girl with serious head injuries on September 9th.

Last week, Morley’s nephew, Charlton Morley spoke with Our News, claiming his elderly aunt lives with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, conditions the family believes contributed to how the dog got out of the yard in the first place.

Outside court on Tuesday, he says the family’s position has not changed, and that to see his elderly aunt stand before a Magistrate was difficult.

“It almost brought me to tears especially when she had a lil episode in there, when she start to shake…and we had to sit [her] down and give her some water.”

Charlton also says his aunt isn’t the only one facing medical challenges, as her son is also dealing with health issues.

“He was wearing short pants and slippers because the swelling of retention from the fluid in his lower body. He can’t wear long pants, jeans or anything that he can’t even put his feet and shoes.”

Meanwhile, Morley says even though he’s hoping for a favorable outcome, he acknowledges there are lessons to be learned from the incident.
