NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court judge has set bail at $30,000 for a man accused of a double shooting that left a man dead.

Nelson Major, of Charles Vincent Street, faces murder and attempted murder charges in connection with the December 24, 2023 shooting of Torvaz Dames and Cardicyn Collie.

As part of his bail conditions, Justice Gregory Hilton requires Major to wear an ankle monitor, surrender his passport, check in weekly with police and stay away from prosecution witnesses.

Prosecutors say that Major, who was riding a motorbike, opened fire on the occupants of a white van in the area of Balfour avenue and Ida Street while chasing them.

The chase ended in Montell Heights, where police nabbed Major.

The van’s passenger, Torvaz Dames, died and the driver Cardicyn Collie, was injured.
