NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Responsible animal ownership, that’s the message the Bahamas Humane Society is stressing after an uptick in complaints of animal cruelty.

Bahamas Humane Society Shelter Manager Inspector Percy Grant who says one of their biggest concerns is the growing number of reports they receive about animal cruelty.

The Animal Protection and Control Act 2010 seeks to ensure that pet owners are mandated to provide proper animal care, animal behaviour, animal welfare and proper housing of aggressive animals.

Grant says they’re hoping for greater enforcement of the law.
