NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The corruption trial of embattled FNM MP Adrian Gibson and five others has been delayed again.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson excused the nine-member jury while she heard legal arguments in their absence. The jury was told to return to the courthouse at 10am on June 30.

On June 13, the Court of Appeal ordered the trial to continue after dismissing an appeal against Grant-Thompson’s refusal to stay the trial on constitutional grounds.

Gibson had claimed that his right to fair trial had been breached by the prosecution failing to make full disclosure and by the court allowing the prosecution’s key witness, Alexandria Mackey, to testify virtually.

Gibson is accused of getting $1.1 million in kickbacks from contracts awarded by the Water and Sewerage Corporation while he served as its Executive Chairman from 2018 through 2021.

He is charged along with his Campaign general, Joan Knowles, Elwood Donaldson, the corporation’s former General manager, Jerome Missick, Peaches Farquharson, and his cousin, Rashae Gibson.
