DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Dominican authorities torched more than 1,600 kilograms of drugs after a series of major seizures across the country.

Most of the contraband was cocaine, according to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Officials say a visit from U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth this week boosted international cooperation in the fight against trafficking.

The Dominican Republic seized more than 44,000 kilograms of drugs last year and has already destroyed over 28,000 kilograms this year.
